Hari Ram Rajpurohit
Shri Hariram Ji (born c. 1890 CE) was an Indian devotional poet, singer, and composer from Rajasthan. He is best known for his work Maa Sati Charitra Bhajan Prakash, a celebrated collection of bhajans dedicated to Mother Sati Sugan Kanwar.
Shri Hariram Ji was born in Vikram Samvat 1947 (c. 1890 CE) in the village of Ghodavad, Jaitaran tehsil, Pali district, Rajasthan. His parents were Shri Pannalal Ji Rajpurohit of the Sevad Nimbavat lineage.
According to biographical accounts, his birth is attributed to the divine blessings of Sant Maharaj Shri Purandas Ji of Baluda Sthan, Dhoomba. Following the saint's instructions, his parents named him Hariram.
Raised in a family tradition of devotion, he was immersed in Sant-sang (company of saints) and Hari Kirtan (devotional singing) from a young age. He became a knowledgeable practitioner of Indian classical music, proficient in both Sagun and Nirgun devotional styles and well-versed in various ragas, raginis, and musical instruments (saj-baj).
His literary contributions extend beyond his most famous work. He also wrote poems critiquing social evils and composed numerous bhajans (devotional songs).
Shri Hariram Ji is remembered as a person of great simplicity and a sociable nature. He was respected by people from all walks of life, and his ethical teachings and moral education are said to have greatly benefited his community.
