Dr. Prahlad Singh Rajpurohit was born on 12 September 1934 in Nagaur, Rajasthan, to Shri Aasu Singh Rajpurohit and Shrimati Sajjan Kanwar Rajpurohit. A distinguished member of the Rajpurohit community-a martial community of Rajasthan. he dedicated his life to chronicling the community’s history and enriching Rajasthani literature. His upbringing in rural Rajasthan deeply influenced his scholarly and literary pursuits.
Dr. Rajpurohit’s magnum opus, राजपुरोहित जाति का इतिहास (History of the Rajpurohit Community), remains the most authoritative study on the socio-political, religious, and cultural legacy of the Rajpurohits. First published in 1978, its revised editions (2021) are celebrated for documenting the community’s dual roles as spiritual guides and military strategists in Marwar’s royal courts.

Siyalo सियाळौ (1996): Poems capturing the essence of rural Rajasthan.
Mayad ro Moh मायड़ रो मोह (1997): Odes to Marwar’s cultural heritage.
Suja Satak सुजा शतक (2007): A poetic homage to historical figures.
Before his passing, Dr. Rajpurohit was compiling oral histories and heroic ballads (वीर गीत):

साको वीर गुमान सिंह तिंवरी री and साको वीर बींजड़ जी बाहड़ जी रो: Ballads of Rajpurohit warriors.
His unpublished manuscripts, including राजपुरोहित और राजपूत सम्बंध (Rajpurohit-Rajput Relations) and सोना रा आखर, await posthumous publication.

Dr. Prahlad Singh Rajpurohit’s work is hailed as a cornerstone of Rajpurohit historiography and Rajasthani literature. His meticulous research preserved marginalized narratives, drawing comparisons to colonial-era chroniclers like Col. James Tod. Though he is no longer with us, his scholarship continues to inspire historians and poets alike.
Professor Jahur Khan Mehr, a noted historian, remarked:
