Amarsingh Rajpurohit was born on 28 September 1953 in Chadwas village, located in the Pali district of Rajasthan, India. He pursued higher education in English Literature and completed his M.A. in English.
Amarsingh Ji had a long and respected career in the field of education. He served as an English lecturer and later as the principal of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Jaswantpura, Jalore. After retirement, he continued to remain active in literary and social circles.
Amarsingh Rajpurohit is widely known for his soulful poetry and impactful lyrics in the Rajasthani language. He has published several acclaimed works:
"Indar Ne Olabho" – A celebrated poetry collection honored with the Ghanshyamdas Sarraf Sahitya Puraskar in 1996 in Mumbai.
"Prajatantra Ri Peed" – Another notable poetic work recognized in 2004.
Both works were published with the support of the Rajasthani Bhasha Sahitya evam Sanskriti Academy, Bikaner.
In addition to publishing, he has been an active participant in kavi sammelans (poetry gatherings), where his melodious voice and meaningful lyrics captivate audiences. He is also a skilled stage anchor.
Amarsingh Ji’s poetry and songs have been broadcast on Doordarshan and All India Radio. He was recently featured in the "Mati Ri Mahak" program on Doordarshan Rajasthan, where his literary journey was discussed in detail.
His contributions to the Literacy Campaign in Pali include five songs published in the campaign book "Rupalo Prabhat" and the title track of the campaign’s cassette: "Aavo Mhara Anganiye."
In 2016, he was awarded the Bhagwan Buddha Fellowship Award by the Bhartiya Dalit Sahitya Akademi, Delhi, in recognition of his literary contributions and social service aimed at Dalit upliftment.
Amarsingh Ji is also active in Rajpurohit community initiatives in Pali and is known for his financial and personal support. He regularly mentors emerging poets and has garnered admiration for his humility, wisdom, and commitment to cultural preservation.
