Uda Ji Damawat was a revered Rajpurohit and the forefather of the Udawat (Udowat) Rajpurohit lineage. He is remembered for his spiritual devotion, courage, and acts of service during a critical period in Rajputana history. His legacy continues to live on through his descendants and the historical developments he initiated in the region of Thob, Rajasthan.
Uda Ji Damawat played a significant role during a turbulent time when the Chundawat Rathores were returning from a battle against the Kelan Bhatis clan. In a gesture of bravery and compassion, Uda Ji gave them refuge during the night in his domain. That night was spent in spiritual remembrance (smaran) of Lord Charbhuja, symbolizing the deep devotion of Uda Ji.
In honor of the divine experience and as a testament to his faith, Uda Ji Damawat built a temple dedicated to Lord Charbhuja on a hilltop in Thob. This temple became a spiritual center for the region and remains a symbol of his devotion.
Beyond his religious contributions, Uda Ji also focused on the development of local infrastructure. He is credited with excavating the Udelao Talab (pond) in Thob, which provided a vital water source to the surrounding communities and improved agricultural sustainability.

The descendants of Uda Ji Sewad came to be known as the Udawat or Udowat Rajpurohits, a prominent branch of the Rajpurohit community within the Sewad lineage. His contributions in spiritual, social, and infrastructural spheres left a lasting impact on the region.
