In 1705, Ram Singh ji Udesh fought and gave his life to protect women, daughters and sisters of the village.

Turk rulers of Gujarat ruled Jalore for some time in the 16th century and it became part of the Mughal Empire. At that time, Rajpurohit Udesh was camping in Sayla's Ran. The devotee of Maa Adishakti Hinglaj, Sri Ram Singh ji had raised the security of the whole family. On one night, Gujarati Mughals and robbers together attacked Sayla Rann. The response by Ram Singh ji to the attack was such that the souls of Mughals and robbers were shaken. The Rajpurohits won the war but Shri Ram Singh ji achieved martyrdom, he had given the blessing of establishment of Sayla to the Udesh Purohits.  

हियडा जइ वेरिअ घणा तो किं अब्भि चडाहुँ।

अम्हाहिं बे हत्थडा जइ पुणु मारि मराहुँ॥
