Toliyasar
Toliyasar was originally granted as a jagir (land grant) by Rao Bika, the founder of the Bikaner princely state, to Rajpurohit Vikram Singh in the year 1482 CE. This marked the beginning of Toliyasar’s prominence as an important estate in the region.
Later, Rao Bika honored Vikram Singh further by awarding him a vast jagir of 84 villages in recognition of his service and loyalty. This made Vikram singh one of the influential jagirdars under the Bikaner domain.
Subsequently, Vikram Singh’s son, Devidas Ji, made a strategic exchange: he relinquished the jagir of 84 villages and, in return, received a consolidated land grant of 84,000 beeghas centered in Toliyasar. This transformed Toliyasar into the principal seat of the Purohit family, making it a major estate in the region.
The Purohit family of Toliyasar continued to hold social and administrative influence in the Bikaner state for generations. Their contributions in religious, cultural, and administrative affairs of the region have been noted in local records and oral traditions.
Toliyasar today stands as a reminder of the feudal and royal systems of medieval Rajasthan and remains a place of interest for those studying the history of Bikaner and its affiliated jagirdars.
