The rulers of Kachlana trace their descent from Raysal Ji who was the Jagirdar of Malpuriya and son of Thakur Mulraj Ji, . This lineage later rose to prominence in Malwa and Ratlam State.
Raysal Ji, son of Mulraj Ji, was the Jagirdar of Malpuriya. His descendant Thakur Surajmal Ji marched to Malwa along with Rao Maheshdas Rathore.
Surajmal Ji fought alongside Raja Ratan Singh, the founder of Ratlam State, in the Battle of Dharmat (1658) against Aurangzeb, where he attained martyrdom. In recognition of his valor and service, Rao Maheshdas Rathore granted him the Jagir of Chaurana.
Later, Rajpurohit Thakur Udai Singh Ji was granted the Jagir of Kachlana, which subsequently became the capital and seat of the Kachlana estate.
Over time, the estate acquired several jagirs, lands, and stepwells (bawdis) in and around Ratlam, further strengthening its political and economic position within the state.
