Mahasati Manni Rani, also known respectfully as Manani Rani, was the wife of Thakur Laal Singh Ji Akherajot and mother to three brave sons, including the martyr Thakur Jalam Singh Ji Akherajot of Thikana Khichan.
During a land conflict at the border of Khichan and Aamla village, Thakur Jalam Singh Ji fought valiantly to reclaim Rajpurohit land from encroaching forces of Aamla's Kshatriya chiefs. He attained Veergati (martyrdom) on the battlefield while defending the ancestral land of his thikana.
After the martyrdom of her son Jalam Singh Ji, Mahasati Manni Rani performed Sati at the same site, symbolizing unmatched motherly valor and sacrifice. Her Chhatri (cenotaph) and temple were later constructed in Khichan by Thakur Ratan Singh Ji Akherajot, preserving her legacy.
To this day, she is venerated as a Mahasati in Khichan, and her temple remains a site of reverence and local devotion. Her story is deeply etched in the oral traditions of the Akherajot Sewads and stands as a symbol of maternal courage, dharma, and Rajpurohit martial honor.
