Udai Singh Raymalot
Udai Singh Raymalot was a noble and valiant member of the Rajpurohit clan in Marwar during the reign of Rao Ranmal Rathore. He is celebrated for his bravery in protecting members of the royal family of Marwar during a critical moment, an act that earned him enduring respect and recognition.
According to oral tales and bahis, an incident occurred during a journey undertaken by royal women of Marwar as they traveled towards Mewar. The entourage, along with their attendants, halted for the night near the boundary of Kharabera village.
During the night, a group of Mer-Meena dacoits launched an attack with the intent to loot and harm the travelers. At this critical moment, Udai Singh Raymalot, who was nearby with his followers, quickly mobilized and rushed to their defense. In a fierce confrontation, Udai Singh and his men repelled the attackers and saved the royal women from harm. He not only ensured their immediate safety but also provided them shelter and personally escorted them to their destination, ensuring their well-being throughout the journey.
In recognition of this act of valor and loyalty, Rao Ranmal of Marwar, deeply moved by Udai Singh's bravery, commissioned the construction of a pond named "Udai Sagar" (also known locally as Badasagar) at the very site where the incident occurred. The pond was built using Rao Ranmal’s personal funds, serving both as a memorial to Udai Singh’s heroism and as a source of water for the local population. This historic pond still exists today and is considered a testament to Rajpurohit valor and service.
Udai Singh's descendants held jagirs in Badli, Kharabera, and Dholeirya, continuing the family's legacy of service and prominence in the Marwar region.
