Sati Anopo Devi Siddhap
When Anjay Singh Rajput of Rani Gaon abducted a Gavar from the Jaisalmer court and brought her to Barmer, the army of Jaisalmer pursued him. After some time, the army reached Ranigaon, but by then, Anjay Singh and the male members of his family had already fled to a safe location outside the village.
Enraged, the army began interrogating members of other communities in the village. During questioning, they learned that the Rajput women had been taken under the protection of the Rajpurohits of Radwa village.
The army then marched toward Radwa. When they reached, the village men stood in strong opposition. However, when the army insisted on entering the village by force, the women of the Rajguru lineage took a vow to protect the honor. They firmly refused to return the Rajput daughters and sisters.
With no peaceful path remaining, and under the blessings of Maa Koobad, Shrimati Sati Mata Anopo Devi (wife of Jodh Singh Ji Rajguru) and Ajo Devi (wife of Shivdan Singh Ji Rajguru) sacrificed themselves to fire (self-immolation) to uphold their chastity and honor.
Seeing this, the Jaisalmer army was left stunned and retreated immediately. When the news reached the royal court of Jaisalmer, the king himself visited the village and apologized to the Rajpurohits for the sins committed by his army.
