Rawat Singh Siddhap
Rawat Singh Ji Rajpurohit was a minister and advisor of the Marwar State. From 1850 to 1902, he served as the third most important advisor to Maharaja Takht Singh Ji Rathore. Such was the respect the Maharaja of Jodhpur had for him that he always placed Rawat Singh Ji's chair beside his own. Thakur Rawat Singh Ji was also the Jagirdar of Madpuriya, and a great lover of horses.
Once, Man Singh, a Rajput and grandson of the Thakur of Sardarsamand, went hunting near the jagir of Rawat singh ji with a Britisher without permission. On hearing gunshots, Thakur Rawat Singh Ji confronted him and said: “You cannot hunt in my estate without permission. If you wish to hunt here, first place your gun on my chest and shoot me—only then may you proceed.”
When this matter reached the Thakur of Sardarsamand, he came the very next day and aplologized. Some couplets describe it as:
मान पड़ियो पुरोहिता में करजो माने माफ, गुरुवर हो आप मार रखजो मारी लाज
